Quality control in online course design and delivery
The rapid development of internet, interactive multimedia and educational technologies has revolutionized the educational delivery system to widely reach off-campus populations beyond geographical barriers and time constraints. However, most courses are not born digital. This talk is contextualised in the current transition towards achieving high quality-oriented online education. It aims to (1) discuss some key challenges in online course design and delivery; (2) review some effective ways for quality control in online course design; and (3) suggest some key considerations in addressing and moderating online students from diverse sociocultural backgrounds. The presentation provides relevant examples associated with a fully online course that aims to develop intercultural competence and its teaching among tertiary ESL/EFL teachers across many countries and cultures. This talk is expected to promote further discussions among those who are interested in online education at tertiary levels.
This forum is jointly coordinated by the College of Arts & Social Sciences (the School of Literature, Languages & Linguistics and the Centre for Arab & Islamic Studies) and the College of Asia & the Pacific (the School of Culture, History & Language).
