Congratulations to a small group of CAIS research scholars, Jon Norling, Sam Blanch and Anas Iqtait who have done a great job bringing together a diverse range of speakers to discuss a fascinating array of research topics.

CAIS PG Conference started with an excellent address by Associate Professor Richard Nielsen from Department of Political Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A/Prof Nielsen has recently published his first book 'Deadly Clerics: Blocked Ambitions and the paths to Jihad' (Cambridge University Press).

Assoc Prof. Richard Nielsen revealed his own methodological approach on Jihadism. The presentations and critical discussions arising were also substantial and stimulating.

This conference was funded by The ANU Centre for Arab & Islamic Studies, and the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences, and supported by the ANU Humanities Research Centre. The CAIS postgraduate students would like to thank each of these academic units.
