For me, the Middle East continues to be one of the most engaging regions to study, due to its rich history and compelling current affairs.

Taking International Relations at the ANU, I decided that picking up courses from the Centre of Arab & Islamic Studies would be a great way to expand my knowledge on the Middle East. For me, the Middle East continues to be one of the most engaging regions to study, due to its rich history and compelling current affairs. Whilst studying at CAIS, I have often found myself really enjoying a subject because of its direct relevance to some of the most important issues that the world faces in its current state.

Taking CAIS courses has definitely improved my ability as an International Relations student because of the clear and informative approaches that the lecturers use in their teaching, often delving into matters of International Relations directly. CAIS has given me a understanding of the complex intergovernmental systems that take place within the region.

What really surprised me about CAIS is its ability to cover the vast region with in-depth material. From Russian foreign policy in Syria to Iran-Saudi Arabia bilateral relations, everything important to the region is included and discussed.
