Middle East & Central Asian Studies at ANU Open Day

Middle East & Central Asian Studies at ANU Open Day

Academic staff and students from the ANU Centre for Arab & Islamic Studies will be available at ANU Open Day to talk with you about our degrees and courses.

CAIS offers a Bachelor of Middle East and Central Asian Studies (BMECA), a Master of Middle East & Central Asian Studies (MMECAS) as well as Arabic, Persian and Turkish language courses.

Many of our undergraduate students combine a BMECA with another Bachelor degree eg Bachelor of International Relations or Bachelor of Security Studies. Some students may take one or two of our courses as electives.

The MMECAS is very popular with people with a passion for Middle East & Central Asian politics, history, languages and cultures. There are also options to study the role of Islam, political economy, security and terrorism of the Middle East and Central Asia.

CAIS graduates have found work in the public service, diplomacy, journalism, business and trade, both in Australia and overseas. Language specialists are in strong demand specifically in government departments dealing with immigration and ethnic affairs, foreign affairs, customs and excise, social welfare, health, consumer affairs, and the media.

So come along and chat to CAIS staff and students about what you might like to enrol in for 2020 and beyond.

Meanwhile, you can see what some of our alumni have to say
