Welcome to the Centre for Arab & Islamic Studies title

The Centre for Arab & Islamic Studies (CAIS), based at The Australian National University (ANU) is located on the lands of the Ngunnawal people; the region’s traditional owners. The Centre is Australia’s premier location for the study of the Middle East and Central Asia. Globally considered a centre for excellence, the expert teaching, language and research staff at CAIS possess in-depth in-country knowledge of a region that continues to profoundly shape global dynamics.

CAIS forms part of the ANU College of Arts & Social Sciences (CASS) and through its affiliate partnerships across the university, the centre pursues high-quality and high-impact pioneering research projects on current and emerging policy issues of national significance.
