CAIS was well represented at the biennial conference held by the Australasian Association for Communist and Post-Communist Studies (AACaPS) https://aacapstudies.com/ on 30-31 January 2025. PhD candidate Gulshat Rozyyeva, A/Prof Kirill Nourzhanov, and a recent graduate from the Centre, Dr Dilnoza Ubaydullaeva, presented papers on Central Asia and took part in stimulating discussions with colleagues from Asia, Europe and the US. 

Gulshat received a prize for the best PhD presentation at the conference.

AACaPS has now changed its name to the Australasian Association for Euro-Asian Studies (AAEAS). CAIS will host the Association's next conference in Canberra in January 2027.
