Major Media Milestones Achived Again by CAIS in 2025
Thursday 20 November 2025

Over the past twelve months, the Centre has achieved an exceptional level of media engagement, recording more than 330 interviews and articles across print and online platforms in Australia and internationally.

This extensive coverage reached an estimated domestic audience of over 57 million people and underscores the Centre’s standing as a trusted source of expert commentary and analysis on the Arab world, the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia.

The scale and quality of CAIS’s media presence highlights its vital role in informing public debate on complex global and regional issues. Its scholars have provided authoritative insights into international conflicts, governance and reform, migration, security and Australia’s evolving foreign policy. Through informed and balanced analysis, CAIS has contributed substantially to improving public understanding of geopolitical developments that have far-reaching implications for Australia and its engagement with the wider world.

The Centre’s academic depth gives its media contributions exceptional credibility and distinguishes CAIS as an essential voice in both scholarly and public discussions. The significant increase in media reach and frequency over the past year also reflects the Centre’s strategic commitment to enhancing its public engagement and ensuring that nuanced perspectives on Arab and Islamic affairs are represented in mainstream discourse.

By continuing to engage actively with journalists, policymakers, and the public, the Centre is not only elevating the profile of ANU but also advancing broader understanding of critical global issues. CAIS’s expanding media influence demonstrates the essential role that academic expertise plays in shaping informed public dialogue in an increasingly interconnected world.
