Completing his PhD in 2021, Dr. Alshaali’s groundbreaking thesis, “Re-Conceptualising Comparative Advantage and Food Sovereignty: An Unconventional Approach to Global Food Security,” offered fresh perspectives on the intersections of economics, policy, and sustainable food systems. His work challenged traditional notions of comparative advantage, advocating for strategies that prioritise national food sovereignty while addressing the complexities of global food security.

Since earning his doctorate, Dr. Alshaali has seamlessly transitioned from academia to diplomacy, currently serving as the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to India.
