Russian Roulette: Repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian War on the Middle East

Please join us for a virtual panel discussion hosted by the Near East Policy Forum and the Centre for Arab & Islamic Studies at the Australian National University.

As the world continues to grapple with the fallout of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the conflict is set to significantly exacerbate existing challenges on food, energy, and national security in the Middle East. This seminar will look at the short to long term repercussions of Moscow’s invasion and the impacts it will have on the broader region.

What steps are individual states taking to mitigate the risks associated with the distribution of global food and supply chains? Will the conflict increase global dependency on fossil fuels from the Middle East? How will the crisis influence existing security framework architectures?
