  • Biography

Qibei Guan is a PhD candidate and researcher specializing in the study of contemporary Chinese Muslims, focusing on the dynamic interactions between local communities and global networks. His research explores the complex ways in which Chinese Muslims navigate their identities within both national and international contexts, emphasizing the themes of local investigation and global connections.

Currently, Qibei is conducting a groundbreaking study on the Muslim community in Shenzhen, one of China’s most influential Special Economic Zones. As a central hub in China’s reform and opening-up era, Shenzhen serves as a “window to the world,” making the study of its Muslim particularly significant in understanding the broader impacts of globalization and urbanization in modern China.
