  • Biography

Farid F. Saenong is currently a research fellow at the Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies (CAIS), Australian National University. He is a faculty member and lecturer in the Faculty of Islamic Studies at the Indonesian International Islamic University. He finished his PhD from the Department of Anthropology- ANU. He possesses MA from University of Manchester and Universiteit Leiden, both in Islamic Studies. His current research is on Global Politics of Moderate Islam (Indonesia, Egypt and Morocco) funded by Henry Luce Foundation, Washington, and hosted by Emory University. His academic interest includes, but not limited to, classical and contemporary Islamic studies, Indonesian studies, religion and social media, religion and gender, Middle Eastern studies, Southeast Asian studies, old and new religious authority, and Arabic. His works have appeared in journals such Religion, Tamaddun, Intersections, Jurnal Studi al-Qur’an, and several chapters in edited books.
