Otabek Akromov is a PhD candidate in Political Science and International Relations at the Australian National University (ANU). His work bridges comparative politics and international relations with a regional focus on post-Soviet Eurasia. He studies Third World alignment, ontological security, and mechanisms of authoritarian legitimation.
Prior to joining ANU’s Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies (CAIS), Otabek served as Head of the Department of International Political Development at the Center for Progressive Reforms in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He holds an MA in Political Science from the University of Minnesota; an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s in International Security (University of Glasgow, Dublin City University, and Charles University); a BA in World Politics from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy; and a Certificate in Political Science from Nagoya University.
