Fraternal Enemies No More? Israel and the Gulf Monarchies: Beyond the Abraham Accords

Professor Clive Jones will offer a nuanced appraisal of Israel-Gulf monarchies relations as they have developed historically and where they stand today beyond the recent Abraham Accords. He will explain how these relations have shaped a new regional order in the Middle East and its future prospects.

Alongside Fraternal Enemies: Israel and the Gulf Monarchies (Hurst/Oxford University Press, 2020) his more recent publications include Britain and State Formation in Arabia 1962-1971 (Routledge, 2017),  with Noel Brehony Britain’s Departure from Aden and South Arabia: Without Glory but Without Disaster (Gerlach Press, 2020),  and The Clandestine Lives of Colonel David Smiley: Code Name Grin (Edinburgh 2019).  His work has been featured in leading international media outlets, including the BBC, Al-Jazeera, RAI (Italy)  and ZDF (Germany) and Public Broadcast Radio in the United States.  In 2010, his book  Britain and the Yemen Civil War (2004) was the basis  of  BBC Radio 4 Documentary Document: ‘Britain’s Secret involvement in the North Yemen Civil War’.
